Madam Musayeroh Barrie is the Director General of the Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority (SLCAA), making history as the first woman to lead a civil aviation authority in West Africa. Appointed by His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio, her leadership is defined by a strong commitment to modernisation, regulatory compliance, and international collaboration in the aviation sector.
With over a decade of experience in aviation security operations at Freetown International Airport, she previously served as Country Director for Westminster Aviation Security Services (WASS). She played a pivotal role in Sierra Leone’s achievement of a 71% score in the 2019 ICAO Security Audit, significantly advancing the country’s global aviation standing.
Madam Barrie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Brunel University, an MBA from the University of Leicester, and a Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership Practices from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), United Kingdom. Her strategic vision continues to guide Sierra Leone’s civil aviation towards enhanced safety, capacity, and international alignment.
