Mr. Joseph John Senessie is the Director General of the Sierra Leone Correctional Service (SLCS), bringing to the role over a decade of progressive experience in corrections management. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education (2008) and a Master’s in Public Administration (2015), both from Njala University.
Mr. Senessie began his career in 2009 as a Recruit Prison Officer and steadily rose through the ranks, serving in various leadership roles including Officer-in-Charge at several correctional centres, Deputy Regional Commander (South), Regional Commander (North East), Director of Agriculture, and Director of Human Resources. His expertise is further bolstered by international training in Nigeria, the United States, China, and South Sudan, where he served as a United Nations Corrections Advisor in 2021.
Appointed Director General in January 2025, Mr. Senessie is widely respected for his work ethic, professionalism, and collaborative leadership. His appointment is seen as a progressive step toward strengthening correctional governance and institutional reform within the SLCS.
