Ministry of Western Region

Ambassador King was appointed Minister of the Western Region in Sierra Leone, following his service as Minister of Labour and Social Security. He has held several senior roles representing Sierra Leone on the international stage, with a career spanning diplomacy, governance, and humanitarian affairs.

In September 2020, he presented his credentials as Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, where he actively engaged in strengthening bilateral relations and explored initiatives such as establishing direct flights between Freetown and Addis Ababa. In December 2022, as Chairperson of the African Union’s Permanent Representatives Sub-Committee on Refugees, Returnees, and Internally Displaced Persons, he led a mission to Baidoa, Somalia, to assess the impact of drought in the Southwest State and engage with local authorities on mitigation strategies.

As Minister of Labour and Social Security, Ambassador King championed efforts to enhance labour standards, promote decent work, and address employment challenges across Sierra Leone. His initiatives reflected a deep commitment to social protection and improved working conditions for citizens.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and International Relations, a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B. Hons), a Barrister-at-Law (B.L), a Master of Laws (LL.M) in Petroleum Law and Policy, and a Master’s in Managing Peace and Security in Africa from the Institute for Peace and Security Studies at Addis Ababa University.

Ambassador King continues to contribute to national development while advancing diplomatic and humanitarian priorities. He is married and the proud father of four children.
