Profile
Colonel (Retired) Muana Brima Massaquoi currently serves as Sierra Leone’s Minister of Defence. A seasoned military professional and public administrator, Colonel Massaquoi brings over three decades of service, discipline, and leadership to the national security sector.
Born on 27 July 1959 in Kenema City, Eastern Region, Colonel Massaquoi began his academic journey at the Experimental Primary School in Njala and later attended the Government Secondary School in Bo. He enlisted into the Republic of Sierra Leone Military Force (RSLMF) in March 1985 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in August 1991.
Throughout his distinguished military career, Colonel Massaquoi participated in numerous national and international military and civil training programs. His academic achievements include a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Njala University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration. He also holds a Higher Teacher’s Certificate from the Milton Margai College of Education and Technology and a Certificate in Basic Engineering Trade Studies and Metal Machining, Shaping, and Turning from the City and Guilds of London Institute.
