Profile
Mr. Mohamed Rahman Swaray is the current Minister of Employment, Labour and Social Security in the Republic of Sierra Leone. With over two decades of executive-level experience across diverse sectors—including aviation, mining, ports, and transport—Mr. Swaray brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the labour and employment landscape.
Born in Pujehun and raised in Kenema, Mr. Swaray began his academic journey at the Islamic Secondary School (1983–1989), later completing his A-Levels at Bo Government Secondary School. He proceeded to Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in English and Political Science. He also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Westminster Business School in London, United Kingdom.
Mr. Swaray served as Sierra Leone’s Minister of Information and Communication prior to his current appointment. During his tenure, he led strategic government communication efforts and played a critical role in enhancing public engagement and transparency. Before entering public service, he was a freelance Organizational Development and Human Resources Consultant, and previously served as Head of Media for the Julius Maada Bio presidential campaign leading up to the 2018 general elections.
A Certified Crisis Communications Expert and a senior member of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA), Mr. Swaray is known for his analytical acumen, strategic leadership, and unwavering commitment to national development. As Minister of Employment, Labour and Social Security, he is focused on fostering inclusive job creation, strengthening labour systems, and advancing social protection for all Sierra Leoneans.
