Profile
AIG (Rtd) Morie Lengor Esq. currently serves as the Minister of Internal Affairs in the Republic of Sierra Leone. He brings over four decades of experience in law enforcement, legal practice, and public service leadership to the role, providing oversight and strategic direction for internal security and civic affairs across the country.
Born on 27 May 1958, Minister Lengor is a graduate of Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts with Honours and an LLB (Hons). He subsequently completed his legal training at the Sierra Leone Law School and was called to the Bar in October 2002, qualifying as a legal practitioner.
Minister Lengor served with distinction in the Sierra Leone Police Force for thirty-eight years, rising to the rank of Assistant Inspector General before retiring honourably in 2018. He was awarded the Baton of Honour as Best Recruit in 1980 and received a national honour—Member of the Order of the Rokel (MOR)—in recognition of his diligence and meritorious service. Throughout his career, he completed numerous professional training programmes, both locally and internationally.
Before his appointment as Minister, he served as Chairman of the Advisory Council of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), contributing to national efforts on drug control policy and enforcement.
Minister Lengor brings to his role a deep commitment to public service, rule of law, and institutional development in Sierra Leone’s internal governance and security sectors.
