Profile
Mr. Amara Kallon serves as Sierra Leone’s Minister of Public Administration and Political Affairs, with a mandate to provide political and technical leadership in revitalizing the country’s public service architecture. Prior to his current role, he served as Deputy Minister of Political and Public Affairs from 2018 to 2023, contributing significantly to governance reforms and institutional coordination.
Mr. Kallon is Sierra Leone’s Focal Point for the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) under the African Union and a Dr. Martin Delany Distinguished Fellow of the Center for Global Africa. He also served as Chairperson of the APRM Committee of Focal Points until February 2024, representing Sierra Leone’s leadership in continental governance dialogue.
His professional background spans roles in planning, evaluation, and research. He previously served as Monitoring and Evaluation Officer for the SCP-GAFSP and IFAD-funded projects at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security. He also held positions as Project Associate and Research Associate with Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), as well as Senior Planning and Budgeting Officer within the same Ministry.
Mr. Kallon holds a Master of Science in Rural Development, a Bachelor of Science in General Agriculture, and a Higher National Diploma in Agronomy. His combined expertise in development planning, governance, and public sector reform positions him as a key driver of institutional transformation in Sierra Leone.
