Ing. Hadji Dabo is a seasoned mining engineer with over 35 years of professional experience in the mining and minerals industry, both in Sierra Leone and internationally. He currently serves as the Director General of the National Minerals Agency (NMA), bringing extensive technical and leadership expertise to the regulation and governance of Sierra Leone’s mineral sector.
Prior to this role, Ing. Dabo served as Chairman of the NMA Board of Directors (2019–2023), where he provided strategic oversight and supported the agency in fulfilling its regulatory mandate. His career spans several senior technical and managerial positions, including Plant Supervisor, Mine Planning Engineer, and Technical Services Manager at Sierra Rutile Limited and Sierra Mineral Holdings Limited. His roles extended beyond operations to include community development and stakeholder engagement, particularly during the post-conflict reconstruction era of the sector.
Ing. Dabo holds a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Mining Engineering from the University of Alberta, Canada, and a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) with First Division Honours in Mechanical Engineering from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone. He is a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in the United States and Sierra Leone and is a member of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration (SME) in the U.S.
In addition to his government service, Ing. Dabo has held leadership roles in the private sector, including Director positions at Vericon Health Resources (USA), SDS Engineering Associates, and Gateway 2439 Engineering Consultancy. He has also delivered technical consultancy and training internationally in areas such as mine planning, CAD/CAM modeling, and geostatistics.
