Profile

Mr. Abdul Aziz is the Acting Auditor-General of the Audit Service Sierra Leone (ASSL), a position he has held since November 2021. He holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Accounting from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, and a Master’s degree in Audit Management and Consultancy from Birmingham City University, UK. He is also a Certified Quality Assurance Reviewer in the African Sub-Region.

With extensive experience in public sector auditing, Mr. Aziz was part of the international team that developed the first Quality Assurance Handbook for the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI). Since assuming leadership, he has championed institutional reforms focused on transparency, digital transformation, and public engagement.

Under his tenure, ASSL has expanded its focus on service delivery audits, boosted donor confidence, enacted the Audit Service Regulations 2024, and launched the ASEAT Program to fully digitize audit processes by 2025. Mr. Aziz is widely recognized for his commitment to accountability, governance, and modernization of public auditing in Sierra Leone.
