Mr. Brima Baluwa Koroma is the Director General of the National Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NPRA), where he oversees licensing and regulation of all downstream petroleum activities in Sierra Leone, including importation, refining, storage, transportation, distribution, bunkering, and pricing.
He previously served as Chief Finance Officer at Safecon Petroleum, a former Shell plc franchise, managing a turnover of USD 23 million over an eight-year period. His financial stewardship contributed to Safecon’s consistent ranking as the third-largest downstream operator in the country. His international banking career includes senior positions at Standard Chartered Bank as Assistant Director and Head of Global Markets in Sierra Leone, Director of Fixed Income Sales in Shanghai, and Director of Global Corporate Sales in Hong Kong.
Mr. Koroma is a Board Member of the Environmental Protection Agency and was recently appointed Vice Chair of the World Petroleum Council, with responsibility for pipelines, storage, and strategic petroleum reserves. In 2020, he was honored by Africa Business Magazine as Africa’s Regulator of the Year, in recognition of his exemplary leadership and regulatory excellence.
