Profile
Mr. Alpha Ibrahim Sesay serves as the Minister of Trade and Industry in Sierra Leone. He brings a wealth of expertise in public financial management, economic policy, and governance, underpinned by strong academic credentials and years of leadership in the public sector.
Mr. Sesay holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom and a Master’s in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government in the United States, where he was a Mason Fellow. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Economics from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone.
He is a member of the Public Financial Management Specialists Society in Sierra Leone and has served in various high-level technical and advisory roles. Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Sesay was the Head of the Project Fiduciary Management Unit (PFMU) in the Ministry of Finance, where he played a pivotal role in ensuring transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the use of public resources.
Mr. Sesay brings to his ministerial role a results-driven approach to policy implementation, grounded in both international training and local expertise, as he leads national efforts to enhance trade, industrial growth, and private sector development.
