Profile

Mr. Chernor Bah is the Minister of Information and Civic Education in the Republic of Sierra Leone, with responsibility for leading government communications and advancing public engagement on national policies and civic matters.

Minister Bah has a distinguished background in youth advocacy, education policy, and international development. He is the founder of the Children’s Parliament of Sierra Leone and has championed youth participation in global governance, including through his leadership of the Voice of Children project and as a member of the United Nations Global Education First Initiative Youth Group. As a child, he made history by testifying before Sierra Leone’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission on behalf of war-affected children, highlighting the voices of young people in the country’s post-conflict recovery.

He has served on several United Nations high-level panels focusing on global education, youth empowerment, peace, and security. His advisory and leadership roles span major international organizations such as UNICEF, the World Bank, the Population Council, the Nike Foundation, and the European Union.

Minister Bah is also the co-founder and former Co-CEO of Purposeful, a globally recognized feminist organization dedicated to girls’ rights. Under his leadership, Purposeful mobilized significant international funding and delivered transformative programming in multiple countries.

His work has been profiled in leading global media outlets including The New York Times, The Guardian, The Lancet, BBC, and Al Jazeera. He has delivered keynote addresses and spoken at prominent global platforms including the United Nations General Assembly, the White House, and several renowned universities worldwide.

Minister Bah brings to public service a deep commitment to civic inclusion, strategic communication, and youth empowerment in Sierra Leone’s democratic and development processes.
