Profile
Mrs. Princess Dugba is the Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources of the Republic of Sierra Leone. She brings over two decades of professional experience in public health and healthcare systems strengthening, both in Sierra Leone and the United Kingdom, to her current leadership in the fisheries and marine sector.
She began her academic journey at Milton Margai College in Sierra Leone and later earned a Bachelor of Science with Honours from Middlesex University in the United Kingdom. She also holds a Master’s degree in Minor Injuries from the same institution, with advanced training in clinical practice and public health.
Mrs. Dugba has held several key positions in the UK health sector, including roles as Lead Harm Reduction Nurse, Community Nurse, Drug and Alcohol Practitioner, and Blood Borne Virus Nurse. Her career has been defined by a deep commitment to improving public health outcomes and promoting equitable healthcare access.
Upon her return to Sierra Leone, Mrs. Dugba served as a Quality of Care Consultant at the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MoHS). She later became the founding Director of the Directorate of Hospitals Inspection and subsequently served as the Deputy Minister of Health and Sanitation. In these capacities, she led health system reforms and promoted quality assurance across healthcare institutions.
Appointed Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources in July 2023, Mrs. Dugba is focused on introducing efficient, effective, and innovative fisheries management practices. She is committed to promoting sustainable aquaculture and maximizing blue growth through collaborative efforts with development partners. Her vision is anchored in inclusive growth and the long-term sustainability of Sierra Leone’s marine resources for the benefit of all citizens.
